We are both excited to meet and get to know you at our clinic. We also believe it is important that you get know us, who will be looking after your feet.
When I was a young child I remember visiting a nursing home and being upset by the way I heard a staff member speak to a resident: apparently I told my Mother - I am going to change that! I will make sure people know they are important and valued! Kindness and respect costs nothing and I have learned through life experiences to show kindness and empathy to others - its so important.
I set up my own Domicilliary Care Company in 2011 after seeing such a lack of really good quality care in the community - so I have an extensive amount of experience in working with vulnerable people in their own homes from all backgrounds and with complex issues to ensure their needs are met and to keep them as safe and as happy as possible. My working life has taken me from originally training as a nursery nurse to training as a registered care manager. I have also worked in acute aquired brain injury rehabilitiation, eating disorder and forensics in a local Northamptonshire Hospital. I moved to Daventry and worked at Spring Gardens sheltered scheme as the Deputy Manager from 2003, eventually becoming the Manager there. I worked there, set up their Domicillary service and ran the scheme, being responsible for all the care and the lets on the 35 flats until I set up All Aspects Care Limited. My passion has always been dementia care and end of life care. I really love being able to make a difference to someones day or their life.
I originally trained as a foot health practitioner due to a lack of being able to source adequate footcare for some of my customers, especially the house bound or the bed bound.
I have found that I have a renewed passion for being able to help people with their foot care - every day I am learning and improving my practice and I am passionate about life long learning and training. My practice also takes me all over the county and I love meeting new patients.
By chance I met Vicki and we just clicked and realised we have the same passions and commitment to learning and giving outstanding practice in foot health care. We are both loving our journey in this career and want to bring our skills to a clinic as well as being mobile practitioners.
Vicki and I also practice in local nursing homes- bringing quality foot care and advice for care staff to those homes. Its been great to work with them and see the care and attention they can bring in this one area of care.
My other passions lie in nutrition and foraging and growing my own produce, Yoga and meditation.
As well as furthering my education in foot healthcare, I have also just started undertaking a diploma in food as medicine and coaching... the simplicity and the complexity of the science is amazing.
So outside of professional life I have a busy home life with my energetic dogs and family. We are a sporty family with lots of our family members attending local sports clubs. We are a large and close knit family. This year we have sadly been bereaved of our wonderful grandparents at 93 and 96. With 3 months in between them both passing due to their devotion for each other. This is one lesson from them I will carry forward in my life ... Devotion. So I believe I am fulfilling my childhood passion to make a difference for people.
Oh did I mention I also do actually quite like to socialise too!! Thats another great part of our career as foot health practitioners - we get to meet lots of lovely patients, hear their stories as they recount days gone by or events and we get to also provide some solutions to keep them active and on their feet.
Setting up the clinic with Vicki is so exciting as we are able to offer more services and work together to support each others best practice. We look forward to meeting you in person.
One of my favourites quotes is
“Find something you love to do, and you will never work a day in your life.”
Well it took me a few years but finally found something I absolutely love doing.
At the age of 18 my friend’s mum asked me to help out at the care company she worked for. It was Easter weekend and there was a staff shortage.
I went to help out and loved it so much so I stayed in care for almost 20 years. I love working with people from all different back grounds but really enjoy the older generations – they have so many life stories to tell you.
In 2012 my father was taken ill with cancer. He was petrified of any one looking after him or of having to go to hospital. Having so much care experience behind me I decided he would come and live with me and I would look after him at my home. Sadly he passed away in 2013 at home surrounded by friends and family.
During the time of caring from my dad he encouraged and inspired me to take up nursing as a job role. So I set about a change of career.
Not everyone thought this a sensible decision as a single mum of two boys and my youngest being just a few weeks old. But I pushed though life and in 2013 I joined Abbey House Medical Practice in Daventry.
I took blood samples, checked blood pressures, monitored hearts (with ECGs) and all kinds of other things, but most of all my favourite job was the leg ulcer clinics. These became my passion – I would study and read best practice and attend all sorts of training days in my own free time.
It was a training day that I attended when I met my friend Jess. She suggested I took a look at the Foot Health Practitioners courses available as she knew lower limbs were a passion of mine.
After a little time and research I decided to follow this path. It meant leaving my job at Abbey House after many happy years, but the Foot Health Practitioner course meant working full-time with lower limbs and this is something I really enjoy.
In September 2021 I made the big step to leave Abbey House and became a self-employed Foot Health Practitioner.
The upside to this was not only did I love the job but its means I get to spend more time with my two boys and dogs.
I gained clinic experience by working with a local Podiatrist in Southam. I credit him with my learning journey in a clinical setting.
I am now very lucky to be able to work alongside Nina at our lovely Foot and Healthcare clinic at Heart Of The Shires Shopping Village, in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.
